Verify email addresses from ChatGPT with MCP

Integration AI assistants and agents

Add PricklyMails to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server, then ask it to verify an address or a whole list in a conversation, on a Business or Enterprise workspace.

No plugin to install: ChatGPT connects to the PricklyMails MCP server, and verifies addresses when you ask for it in the conversation.

Step by step

Connect your assistant in four steps

Before you start

A ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, on the web: OpenAI keeps custom MCP servers with full MCP support to those plans, and to ChatGPT on the web.

  1. In PricklyMails

    Create an agent in PricklyMails

    1. In the dashboard, open Agents and click New agent.
    2. Give it a name, such as ChatGPT, and tick under Scopes what it may do: verify one address, verify a list, read results, check your balance.
    3. Click Create agent.

    Note

The Free plan creates one agent, which verifies one address at a time and reads results; every paid plan can grant an agent any scope.

  2. In ChatGPT

Add PricklyMails as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT

    1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT on the web.
    2. Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
    3. Enter PricklyMails as the name.
    4. Under Connection, enter https://mcp.pricklymails.com/mcp.
    5. Choose OAuth for the authentication.
    6. Read the risk warning, tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.
    7. Install the plugin.

    Note

On a Business workspace, only admins and owners can create a plugin. On Enterprise or Edu, an admin can grant Create plugins with MCPs to members, a permission that is off by default.

  3. In PricklyMails

    Approve the agent in PricklyMails

    1. When ChatGPT opens PricklyMails in your browser, sign in to your account.
    2. Under Choose which agent to authorize, pick the agent you created.
    3. Click Authorize.

    Tip

No key is pasted anywhere: the agent is what grants access, and revoking it from Agents cuts it off at once.

  4. In ChatGPT

    Ask ChatGPT to verify addresses

    1. Start a new conversation, type @ and select PricklyMails.
    2. When ChatGPT asks to run a PricklyMails tool, choose Allow once or Always allow.

Then ask in plain words, for instance:

    • Verify jane.doe@acme.com before I reply to her.
    • Here are the 40 addresses from my event signup sheet: verify them and tell me which ones to remove.
    • How many PricklyMails tokens do I have left this month?

    Tip

ChatGPT asks before any write action, which includes a verification. To change what it asks for, open Settings then Plugins then Permissions.

What it can do

Within the scopes of its agent, ChatGPT can verify one address or a whole list, read the results and their reasons, check your balance and usage, and manage your API keys and webhooks. Each call is billed like the same request through the API.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use PricklyMails on ChatGPT Plus or Pro?

OpenAI's help keeps full MCP support to Business, Enterprise and Edu. It says Pro users can connect a custom MCP server with read and fetch permissions only, which leaves out verifying an address, and it does not mention Plus.

Does it work in the ChatGPT mobile app?

No: OpenAI's help says custom MCP servers connect on ChatGPT on the web only.

How do I disconnect PricklyMails from ChatGPT?

In Settings then Plugins, open PricklyMails, then its three-dot menu, and choose Disconnect. Revoking the agent in PricklyMails cuts ChatGPT's access too.

Does PricklyMails see my conversations with ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT sends PricklyMails only what a tool call needs, such as the address to verify, and the address is never stored: our servers keep a one-way fingerprint of it.
