Verify email addresses from Cursor with MCP

Integration AI assistants and agents

Add the PricklyMails MCP server to Cursor in one click or a few lines of mcp.json, then ask its agent to verify the addresses your code works with.

No plugin to install: Cursor connects to the PricklyMails MCP server, and verifies addresses when you ask for it in the conversation.

Step by step

Connect your assistant in four steps

  1. In PricklyMails

    Create an agent in PricklyMails

    1. In the dashboard, open Agents and click New agent.
    2. Give it a name, such as Cursor, and tick under Scopes what it may do: verify one address, verify a list, read results, check your balance.
    3. Click Create agent.

    Note

    The Free plan creates one agent, which verifies one address at a time and reads results; every paid plan can grant an agent any scope.

  2. In Cursor

    Add the PricklyMails server to Cursor

    Cursor reads its MCP servers from mcp.json: ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, .cursor/mcp.json for one. The button below the steps adds the same server for you.

    1. Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or .cursor/mcp.json at the root of a project, and create it if it does not exist.
    2. Add the pricklymails server below under mcpServers, then save the file.
    3. Restart Cursor.
    4. Open Customize in the sidebar, then MCPs, and check that PricklyMails is turned on.
    ~/.cursor/mcp.json
    {
        "mcpServers": {
            "pricklymails": {
                "url": "https://mcp.pricklymails.com/mcp"
            }
        }
    }

    Add PricklyMails to Cursor
  3. In PricklyMails

    Approve the agent in PricklyMails

    1. When Cursor opens PricklyMails in your browser, sign in to your account.
    2. Under Choose which agent to authorize, pick the agent you created.
    3. Click Authorize.

    Tip

    No key is pasted anywhere: the agent is what grants access, and revoking it from Agents cuts it off at once.

  4. In Cursor

    Ask Cursor's agent to verify addresses

    1. In the agent's chat, ask for a verification in plain words.
    2. When Cursor asks to run a PricklyMails tool, click the arrow next to the tool's name to see its arguments, then approve it.

    Then ask in plain words, for instance:

    • Verify jane.doe@acme.com before I reply to her.
    • Here are the 40 addresses from my event signup sheet: verify them and tell me which ones to remove.
    • How many PricklyMails tokens do I have left this month?

    Tip

    To skip the approval for a tool that only reads, such as get_pricing, add pricklymails:get_pricing to mcpAllowlist in ~/.cursor/permissions.json.

What it can do

Within the scopes of its agent, Cursor can verify one address or a whole list, read the results and their reasons, check your balance and usage, and manage your API keys and webhooks. Each call is billed like the same request through the API.

Frequently asked questions

Can my team share the PricklyMails server?

Yes: a .cursor/mcp.json committed at the root of the project gives the server to everyone who opens it. When a server is named in both files, the project's entry wins.

SourceCursor's official help center

Does it work with Cursor's cloud agents?

Yes. Cursor keeps a separate sign-in for its cloud agents, and you sign them out from the server's Cloud row in Customize.

How do I remove PricklyMails from Cursor?

Turn it off in Customize then MCPs, or delete its entry from mcp.json. Revoking the agent in PricklyMails cuts Cursor's access too.

Does PricklyMails see my conversations with Cursor?

No. Cursor sends PricklyMails only what a tool call needs, such as the address to verify, and the address is never stored: our servers keep a one-way fingerprint of it.
